The mission of this center is to conduct fundamental research in systematic and evolutionary biology. The research scopes include plant taxonomy, floristics and biogeography, the origins and phylogenies of higher plants, population biology and conservation genetics, Evo-Devo and evolutionary genomics. Flora of China
This is a five-year project from 2003 to 2007. The research and editing have been progressing well. Involved in the project are 76 authors, each with a specific assignment from the editorial committee. Two volumes (Vol. 5 and 9) were published in 2003, volume 14 is in the stage of draft revision for the final text, and the preparations of other volumes are in progress as scheduled.
Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae (the Chinese version of the Flora of China, consisting of 126 volumes) is a magnificent achievement of the Chinese botanists over the past 50 years. Significant revision is currently underway and it will be published soon.
